Benjamin Philippe Zulauf is back on Hummingbird by BPZ, with an EP combining analogue sounds and raw machine funk, to deliver three timeless tracks that skate the line between house and techno. Known for his improvised sound, composing of live jams on his hardware equipment, Benjamin Philippe Zulauf has a jazz-infused style released by record labels such as Claap Rec, Vekton Black, and Fourier Transform. Showcasing himself as a talented musician whose influences range from Jef Mills to Mike Shannon, his imprint, Hummingbird by BPZ, has become the main outlet for his music. The EP’s title track, "Neon Blue Haze" has a rolling acid bassline and phasing pads stretched over gritty percussion to create a chunky groove. "Momentum Shift" has a booming kick drum and laser beam stabs submerged in trippy atmospherics and luscious pads. "FAFO" closes the release with a jackin' groove utilising bumping tom drums and murky pads.
