A word from the label founder, Evaldas Azbukauskas: March 1st is the founding day of Cold Tear Records. I started it in 2010 and it has been a big part of my life since. The label was operational for six years when I decided that I should organize some kind of a release for the labels birthday, which with time became like my own second birthday. So the idea was to collect a few rootsy dub tracks from our catalog and put them together into a free compilation called "Heavy Dub". It's a genre tag that I kind of hijacked from joergmueller. I felt like it was just a simple thank you to our supporters. I didn't think it will get a lot of attention, since the tracks were already released, I didn't have any expectations at all, but I could almost say—it kinda blew up. And then I did exactly the same next year, and again the response from our audience was unbelievable. I understood that I've discovered something precious, and now it's a tradition, and one of the most successful projects on the label. With time, artists started reaching out to me, asking if I accept submissions for the compilation, and I didn't deny, because when you hear something good it's undeniable. The whole point of running this label is to hunt for the best music possible, even if the artist has never released anything before, has 0 followers on any platform, and has no clue how to navigate the music scene. Because it's the genuine expression of artists feelings and emotions is what I treasure more over other things. So I accepted that Heavy Dub will be a mix of previously released selections and original, unreleased tracks as well. And since the volume 8, every year we have a selection of completely fresh, unreleased tracks. I wouldn't be able to do that, if it wasn't for our Discord community. All I need to do now, is to announce to the artists we work with that we are starting to collect tracks for the next Heavy Dub compilation, and sometimes, before the deadline I already have more tracks than I can release, and it forces me to be more selective and unfortunately sometimes more harsh with my judgement.
