Biography
Watching him playing in the booth, unmistakable shows Paul’s link with dance floor culture. He shares euphoria with the crowd, and sets out for explorative selections that change colour and energy - balancing sonic experiments with certain verified house and techno records.
Paul grew up in a culturally active surrounding in Nuremberg and studied classical piano for 12 years in Dresden, before his adventurous, club-oriented taste formed through years of producing and digging records. It was his own productions (for example the widely acclaimed, downtempo- defying „Why Wait For 1984?“ EP on mexican imprint Akasha MX from 2016, or his numerous, globally played chill-rave releases with Leveldva, UYSR or Keller), that led to his first entry into clubs around europe and soon after, overseas. The last three years have seen him appearing in underground venues on four continents. Eagerly comfortable playing big rooms (Club Chinois, Ibiza / Kater Blau, Berlin) or performing closing pleasures on small floors, he is with writing soundtracks for contemporary dance theatre and movies. His new collaboration with spanish dance company ‚Losinformalls‘, premiered at influential theatre festival ‚FiraTàrrega‘ in Catalonia 2024 and is going to be showcased during the next two years in Spain, France and Germany.
His record label and art platform ‚kontrapost‘ serves as a community based playground for signature-productions, DJ-Sets and alias projects, having reached hundreds of thousands of listeners and dancers alike throughout the last 5 years. His music has been remixed by Chris Schwarzwälder, Madmotormiquel, Cornelius Doctor or Pilocka Krach to name a few, and his kontrapost label material has been supported by internationally acclaimed artists like Acid Pauli, Mira or Ivan Smagghe. No matter how much his output varies, each piece of Traeumer sonic carries an own sense of slow-burning soul and house heritage. It’s trance-inducing dance music, wonky and off-kilter.
